Video shows unprovoked, cold-blooded killing of Palestinian boys by Israeli forces

May 19 2014

This shocking video shows the unprovoked, cold-blooded killings of two Palestinian teenagers, 17-year-old Nadim Siam Nuwara, and 16-year-old Mahmoud Odeh Abu Thahir on 15 May near Ofer military prison in the occupied West Bank city of Beitunia.

Both boys were fatally shot with live ammunition. The video was obtained by Defence for Children International - Palestine Section (DCI-Palestine) which sent the following description to The Electronic Intifada:

The CCTV footage was captured by cameras mounted on the building where the incident took place, which is owned by Fakher Zayed.

“The images captured on video show unlawful killings where neither child presented a direct and immediate threat to life at the time of their shooting,” said Rifat Kassis, executive director of DCI-Palestine. “These acts by Israeli soldiers may amount to war crimes, and the Israeli authorities must conduct serious, impartial, and thorough investigations to hold the perpetrators accountable for their crimes.”

Nadeem Siam Nawara, 17, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Mohammad Mahmoud Odeh, 16, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the back.

The boys were participating in a demonstration near Ofer military prison to mark Nakba Day and express solidarity with hunger striking prisoners currently held in administrative detention by Israel. The demonstration reportedly began peacefully and then turned violent when Israeli forces clashed with Palestinian youth.

The deaths on Thursday raise the number of Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces in 2014 to four, according to data collected by DCI-Palestine. Over 1,400 Palestinian children have been killed as a result of Israeli military and settler presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 2000.

The Israeli military’s own regulations dictate that live ammunition must be used “only under circumstances of real mortal danger,” but the regulations are not enforced and frequently ignored by Israeli soldiers, according to research by DCI-Palestine.

Read more on the killings on DCI-Palestine’s website.

If Israel could do this to a young American Jew, imagine what Palestinians face every day.

The true face of the supposed “only democracy in the Middle East”. A young American Jew quietly and calmly voices his opposition to Israel’s policies towards the Palestinians, both in the occupied territories and in Israel itself, and is attacked by the Israeli police, who drag him along the road face down and throw him into a police van.

American jewish boy roughly man handled and arrested in Jerusalem for sticking up for the Palestinians during jewish march.

Police violently arresting a Jewish teenager in Jerusalem for speaking the truth and charged him for “attacking and biting a police officer” !!! For one American Jewish teenager, this year’s Jerusalem Day earlier this month turned out to be an event not to remember, as he was detained for two days on suspicion of attacking and biting a police officer.

“Lucas,” a 19 year-old from Philadelphia, cut a rather different figure in the Jerusalem Day flag parade in the capital. Like many participants in the event, he wore a skullcap on his head; unlike the others, however, a Palestinian flag and a keffiyeh were also part of his outfit.

The youth, who arrived in Israel as part of a trip arranged by a Jewish-Christian group, claims he was attacked by a policeman during the celebrations.

The parade turned ugly this year when a small group of participants walked through East Jerusalem, and the Old City’s Muslim Quarter, chanting “death to Arabs.” Lucas, with a few comrades, stood opposite these demonstrators, and shouted out slogans in support of ending Israel’s occupation of the territories. He says that dozens of Palestinians gathered behind him, and formed a spontaneous protest.

In a videotape, Lucas can be seen refusing to give policemen his passport, after he was apparently identified as the leader of the protest. After a few minutes, in the clip, a police officer is seen dragging Lucas forcibly into a police car, “Israel is occupying the Palestinian people in my name, in the name of world Jewry,” Lucas, clutching his American passport, tells the camera. “And I myself, an American Jew, is here to say that is completely unjustified and ethically reprehensible.

“And we, world Jewry and all people of the world, will not stop until this occupation ends and until the Palestinian people have their right - the right of return, the right to live without occupation, and equal rights within Israel. That is why we are here.”

Israel Police claims the young man attacked and bit an officer - however, the video does not show Lucas provoking any officers. It shows a group of policemen forcing him to the ground and handcuffing him; as a result, he required medical treatment afterward.

For his part, Lucas adamantly denies that he attacked a police officer.

“I didn’t bite anyone,” he says. “The police officer showed me his cuts [later], but they were caused by a sharp instrument, and there weren’t any bite marks.”

Lucas was held in detention for two days. The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court denied a police request to extend his remand; at the advice of his lawyer and family, the youth left the country after being released.

Fajr Adhan. The morning call to prayer. Unbeknownst to many, Muslims pray 5 times a day. The prayer is the means for a person to connect with their Lord, the One who created and blessed each and every one of us. (for more info. on the Muslim method of praying, click this link.)  The first prayer is the pre-dawn (fajr) prayer, which for most of the year is before 5am. It is currently at 5.30 in this part of the world (London).

People are ‘called’ to each prayer with these words, which we call the Adhan. Each call to prayer is the same, with the following words (below)-however the words ‘As salatu khayram minan nawm’ (Prayer is far greater than sleep) are only said for the morning prayer. It reminds the Muslim (the one who submits to God) that there are bigger things in life than rest and sleep, and so one must wake up-no matter how difficult it may seem-in order to achieve something greater; peace and tranquility and obedience to God.

Above is a video of the call to the morning prayer, and below is a transcript of what is being said:

الله أكبر ,الله أكبر

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar (twice)

God is the greatest (or greater than all), God is the greatest,

أشهد أن لا اله إلا الله

Ash-hadu an-la ilaha illa Allah (twice)

I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah.

أشهد أن محمدا رسول الله

Ash-hadu anna Muhammadan-Rasulullah (twice)

I testify that Muhammad is the messenger (of God)

حي على الصلاة

Hayya ʿala s-salat (twice)

Come to Prayer

حي على الفلاح

Hayya ‘ala l-falah (twice)

Come to Success

الصلوة خير من النوم

As-Salatu Khayrun minan Nawm (twice)

Prayer is far greater than sleep

الله أكبر ,الله أكبر

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar

God is the greatest, God is the greatest

لا اله إلا الله

La ilaha illa Allah

There is none worthy of worship except Allah.

Gonna reblog this every time it pops up on my dashboard.

"its my country too" damn straight it is you go girl

I just want to say that this is from a video by fouseyTUBE on YouTube, where the lady in the Hijab and the man being mean to her are in on it together, kind of like a “what would you do” scenario. He does a lot of these videos, and you can check out this Hijab one here.

It’s really lovely to see strangers stand up for others :)
